At David Lawson Photography Studios in Sunderland, we offer relaxed studio graduation photography for graduates across Sunderland, Durham, Newcastle, Northumbria, Middlesbrough, Teesside and the wider North East.
Our graduation sessions are studio-based and include professional lighting, a choice of white, black, blue or library-style backgrounds, a private changing room and space for individual portraits, family photographs and group photos with friends. We also have a standard black cap and gown available in the studio, or you are welcome to bring your own university gown and hood for your official colours.

Professional Studio Shoot
We will take a fantastic set of professional pictures for you on the day. Your session will last between 15-20 minutes. Individual & Family shots can be captured in the same shoot.
Save on Cap & Gown hire
We have our very own Gown & Motarboard available to use on the day. Hiring your own can be expensive. They are also cleaned and disinfected after every appointment.

Can I book graduation photos after my ceremony?
Yes. Many people book after their graduation day because they missed their photos, didn’t have enough time, or want better portraits with family.
Can my family be included?
Yes. We can include parents, grandparents, partners, siblings, children and small groups of friends.
Do you offer graduation photography for Sunderland University students?
Yes. Our studio is based in Sunderland and is ideal for University of Sunderland graduates, as well as students from Durham, Newcastle, Northumbria, Teesside and across the North East.
How many people can come to the shoot?
Our studio can usually hold around 10–15 people comfortably.
Do you provide a cap and gown?
We have one standard black cap and gown available in the studio. If you want your official university colours, hood or subject-specific gown, please bring your own academic dress.
Are the photos taken at the university?
No. All of our graduation photoshoots are studio-based at David Lawson Photography Studios in Sunderland.
Will I get an online gallery?
Yes. After your shoot, you’ll receive access to an online gallery and shop where you can view and order your favourite photographs.
Can I bring my own gown?
Yes. You are welcome to bring your own official university gown, hood, cap or colours.
